Fox and Geese Rules
This version uses the traditional 33-point cross board with 1 Fox and 13 Geese, using a simple all-directions movement variant.
Setup
- The Fox starts in the center.
- Thirteen Geese begin together on one side of the board.
- The Fox moves first.
Movement
- Pieces move only along the lines drawn on the board.
- The Fox may move one connected step in any direction to an empty point.
- A Goose may move one connected step in any direction to an empty point.
- Geese cannot capture or jump.
Fox Captures
- The Fox captures by jumping over an adjacent Goose to the empty point directly beyond it on the same line.
- The jumped Goose is removed.
- If another capture is available after a jump, the Fox may continue jumping in the same turn or end the capture turn.
- Capturing is not mandatory in this version.
Winning
- Geese win by trapping the Fox so it has no legal move or jump.
- Fox wins after capturing 10 Geese, leaving only 3 — too few to form a complete trap.
Modes
2 Players: Player 1 controls the Fox and Player 2 controls the Geese. Vs Computer: choose whether you want to play the Fox or the Geese.
